Lab Setup
The KNUST Central Lab houses chromatography and spectroscopy lab facilities with state-of-the-art equipment. We are able to work with researchers to develop methods for new analyses as needed. We are knowledgeable in the areas of sample preparation, data analysis, chromatography, mass spectrometry and general chemistry.
Chromatography Facility
At this time, we have in operation:
- Gas Chromatograph – Electron Ionization – Mass Spectrometer (GC-EI-MS)
- Gas Chromatograph – Flame Ionization Detector (GC-FID)
- Analytical High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- Ultra High-Performance Liquid Chromatograph – Electrospray Ionization – Time of Flight, Mass Spectrometer (UHPLC-ESI-ToF-MS)
Spectroscopy facility
At this time, we have in operation:
- 500 MHz AVANCE III Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
- Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy – Flame and Graphite Furnace
- Attenuated Total Reflectance – Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy
- Double beam UV/VIS Absorption Spectrophotometry
